π Lace Japanese Maple, #2532
Rich Oaks (SBBK), owned 30yrs or more. Repotted 4 yrs ago;
When repotting, Rich suggests using a hacksaw and removing the outer inch and a half off circumference. Laceleaf Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum dissectum). Amazing pot. Wide base, imperfect, trunk & primary branches are straight and leggy, but old. Will appreciate the foliage.
May selectively prune odd or leggy secondary branches it outer gamification can be improved.
Jan 31-Feb 1 Repot
Valerie:
Janβtime to repot, by removing 1.5β around and below and replace with 1:1:1 3/16β mix, it will help stimulate back-budding
Repot before buds open
At the same time, cut back the canopy (selectively for long internodes) will improve taper, ramification and back-budding
