Seiju Elm, #26XX
Kusamura Sale, Seiju Elm (was Gianne’s).
The Seiju Elm (Ulmus parvifolia 'Seiju') is a hardy, fast-growing, and beginner-friendly bonsai with corky bark and tiny, crinkled leaves. It thrives in full sun, requires consistent moisture to avoid drying out, and prefers regular pruning to maintain its compact, dwarf form. Fertilize regularly during the growing season.
Pruning: Trim new shoots back to 2 or 4 sets of leaves to maintain shape and encourage fine ramification. It is highly responsive to pruning.
Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years in spring or mid-summer when the root system fills the pot, using well-draining bonsai soil.
Styling: Wiring should be done carefully as branches can be brittle.
