🍑 Santa Rosa Plum Shohin ✂️

Trunk chop to develop Shohin movement—5/17/25. Will repot in fall or spring into a colander.

Plan

  • Clip and grow to Shohin size

  • Let the small branch grow out and wire back towards the trunk as the new apex

  • Clean up the chop with knob cutters to smooth out the transition

  • Let the new apex and any new growth run wild to speed up the taper from trunk to new apex

  • Repot in late fall or spring into a colander on a tile, in aggregate bonsai mix to develop nebari

  • Consider any one change of direction to extend a branch to Jin or making a more aggressive change in direction.

  • Each section to have a shorter internode length.

  • As a Shohin, plan the final apex to be no taller than 6-7”
