Mugo Pine, #2217

Pinus Mugo Pumillo, Golden Nursery $20. Nov 2022, earliest trees acquired.

Realized it was a cluster of trees, so separated into 2 trees and potted. Always very confused on style and branch selection, so wired some movement and left them to grow and prune later. Below is six months growth—and to make more decisive branch selection. Wide base but unclear front.

My least favorite pine—not sure what to do with such leggy branches. Inspiration at the bottom…

May 2025 Making A Go At It Again

Bad time to repot, and not good to bare root—but inspired by Jonas’ exposed root demonstration and low value plant.
Combed out long roots, wired loosely a cylinder of roots and added mild rotation and twist.
Aggregate soil in a 12” tall seedling container.
