May defoliation to stimulate interior back budding and let light in
Quickly shape silhouette
Defoliate more of the upper apex canopy
Remove long internodes
Remove any large leaves
When new shoots harden, cut back again until no new growth (not elongated)—that would be the end of the growing season. May get 3-4 cycles.
Prior cutting placed close to the roots to fuse as a root, then will Prune to be just a root.
Second cutting placed further out as a new trunk.
Elm Cut back
Elms bud & bifurcate where you cut, so cut back any leggy internodes. Remove unwanted structural branches.
Can cut back to 1-2 leaves
