Pygmy Cypress

  • Narrower, flatter pads and not cloud style

  • Point Lobos inspiration for cypress

Growth Habit & Care

  • Grows fast, set thinner branches and will soon thicken and set

  • Keep in limited full sun for 2 months

  • Don’t over feed—or it will blow out the bark and have to regrow—not as nice

  • But keep it well watered—wetter side.

Styling

  • Creates triangular shape (flat) pad. 

  • Varies pad levels, more interesting and natural—just cleaned up

After Styling

  • Hold off pruning for a year

  • Will need a repot (not this spring—a full season or recovery), so build up foliage to support repot.

  • After repot, let it recover then prune.
