🐛 Pest—Pear Slug (saw fly)
Pear slug, which is the larva of a sawfly. These pests are known to feed on the leaves of pear and other fruit trees, causing damage that appears as skeletonized leaves.
Eating up my Santa Rosa Plum leaves. Sprayed with Neem Oil on affected and prophylactically on all.
They feed on the surface tissue of leaves, leaving behind a skeletonized appearance. This can weaken the tree and reduce its ability to produce fruit.
The adult sawflies lay eggs on the leaves, which hatch into larvae. The larvae feed for several weeks before pupating in the soil.
Pear slugs can be controlled by handpicking, insecticidal soap, or horticultural oil.
