March Madness

Major repotting is done, but finding a few cuttings that were ready for potting and rootwork.

Amazed that one Chinese elm was smaller than pencil, but roots filled a tray and were thick, potted in a small pond basket with a 2” hex tile.

Went through all of my tridents, maples and younger elms with cutback and large leaf reduction. Same for a number of plums.

Piles of leaves. Piles and piles.

Also set up misters on the side of the house.

Started a planting of JBP seeds (from Bill McD). Soaked 24 hrs and stratified in the fridge for 1-2 months. Some started rooting. Placed in a 1.5” deep ceramic, small lava & granite drainage, 1:1 pumice & akadama fines on top of the seeds. Will bag and keep near the furnace.
