Sick or Passing Trees

June 2026

Very sad that my Cedar Rose JBP is sick and may not make it. Happened quickly with some brown needles—has been watered, full sun, and fed organic and fish emulsion. Possibly too much water and fertilizer, but did not seem excesssive.

Adam said to put it in a greenhouse and Val added:

“...hope this makes it, it’s pretty cool.

Over watering might not be original problem but probably exacerbated condition.

Zooming in, looks like only one bud is opening right now.  The other spring candles look desiccated.  I hope they open.

…watch the water.  Wait til the akadama shows pale tan, not dark brown.

How were the roots at the repot in spring?” [good]

March 2026

Yardadori Juniper from Gerry Fields was repotted and cleaned deadwood—but before wiring in the winter it looked dormant or sick. Now March it appears more brown and brittle. I should look for scale or other issues. It may have been too aggressively worked after collecting.

A Chojubai that I purchased from the club green elephant last September did not wake up from dormancy yet and I’m concerned. I will look at the roots to see if it needs to get pus or some change.

One redwood that I repotted and reworked browned slowly and looks poorly or dead.

I should investigate what caused it.

Note: Caleb mentioned that a juniper and pines that he collected over a year ago recently died. He kept them bagged and misted this full time.
