Benches are Full

End of March and my benches are full. Had added two small benches, enough trees.

This is a growth year, expecting repotted plants to thrive. Organic fertilizer, and will not over-water some trees.

  • Pot recent Trident☑️, Zelkova, and JBP seedlings☑️. Put seedlings on an Anderson flat☑️—intended for Cork Bark grafting.

  • Plenty of stock for refinement

  • Repot and refine early boxwoods, finalize carving

  • Attempt Blue Atlas cedar grafting on Deodar branches or trunk.

  • Expect many Trident bases to thicken and allow a hard fall cutback or next spring chop.

  • Will decide what will be better Shohin and others larger trees.

  • Must have a plan for juniper work—adding Shari and movement.

  • Mid summer pruning and wiring for Santa Rosa Plum in development. Plan to repot next spring.

  • Rootwork, incrementally weakening 1/3 of the diameter of a problematic root (ginkgo, hornbeam, redwood, etc).

  • Cut back and plan out recently collected Redwoods that will not be tall trees.

  • Twisted Tridents—what to to next for Shohin development? Ask Adam.

  • Repot Redwood in Training Pot with 70% Akadama, pinching and carving for smaller Bonsai—oil preservative.

  • Build more benches

  • Build wire caddy—tool organizer

  • Start to trade or donate trees that are not needed.
