95 Work Days and Counting

Reflecting on work as we fly off for a summer vacation in Kauai, HI. Abbott accepted my retirement by the end of the year—with PTO leaves 95 work days left. (Not that I’m counting 😜). December 10, 2026.
I feel confident in our financial security and thoughtful (if not over-thought) retirement plan. Even in a bear market, war, or additional work gap—we should be fine. Barring medical emergencies or crippling inflation. As best as we can plan and have insurance, it is up to God’s will.
The hardest transitions are said to be from the social absence of coworkers or one’s purpose outside of work. The lack of recognition and accomplishment from work. I’m a comfortable introvert by nature, and very proud of my work accomplishments—yet many creative and travel goals have been deferred.
I will continue to journal, dream big, research travel destinations, seek causes to invest in, and build new or deeper friendships.
