Validation of Our Plan—Fidelity
While I must be objective that Fidelity as our fund manager may be biased to remain using their products and services—they have good tools and much experience. They are part of the Institution and less of the skeptic or contrarian.
Their motto is “Time is the solution to success, not timing.” Weather the expected storms, don’t try to predict the timing and avoid them.
I met with my personal manager for a review of my retirement strategy and current assets. With questions in hand, we went through my portfolio and goals, we had a unifying strategy and confirmation of my plan to retire by the end of this year. “What were my biggest concerns before this decision?” (1) What is our likelihood to succeed?” (2) “How will we manage medical insurance?” (3) “Will I need to plan for consulting to fill any gap or increase the likelihood of success?” The conversation unfolded… and ended with “Congratulations!”
Early retirement goal & plan are aligned by me and my wife. Open discussions on this topic is the new norm with the family. Shared discussions of our desires for relocating after our youngest finishes high school led to a open house tour in the north bay was a delight.
