Collected Sierra Junipers — Exiting The Greenhouse

June 29, 2026 Cautiously putting both junipers under shade cloth. Has a humidifier and a fan, but open front and sides to moderate summer temperatures. Foliage okay but on the hairy edge of supple and dry. Misting often. Temperatures fortunately still in the high 70’s.

Harsh sunlight (~1000 PAR) is limited in duration in the afternoon, but we are not yet into the hottest months of summer.

Also lime sulfured the deadwood to preserve it from rot over time. Adam likes a more natural aging than lime sulphur, in general. But following conventional wisdom. Hard to get into the wood crevices that have separated. Behind that fin of deadwood is a depression (concavity) in the twist that holds debris and water. Water drains through the open fissures in the wood—may need to preserve the interior cracks with a spray application.

June 22, 2026 Guidance from Gio, removing from the greenhouse and removing the shade cloth. Actually rolling back the front and half top. No humidifier, no fan. Still on the side of the house. Will be watching for new growth and possibly roots emerging from the bottom.
