Our Experience

I am happy to share our first-hand experience of applying and getting accepted to our desired Art Colleges. I am a parent of a High School senior, graduating in a few weeks and them having accepted one of two esteemed colleges that they applied to.

Yes, applied to only two programs after visiting a number of state public college art programs and private art colleges. We are located in California, and while we have excellent state colleges—‘any are very competitive just to get accepted, but many arts programs were not considered strong by some professionals and educators. Opinions are subjective.

Our HS Senior applied to RISD, inspired by their AP Art Instructor being a RISD alum. It is one of the top 5 arts institutions. The second school applied to was SAIC in Chicago. Both were favored that the programs were more flexible or customizable.

The first acceptance was from SAIC, with a Presidential Merit Scholarship and invitation to a Scholars Program. 100% Tuition covered, plus a small stipend added to financial support.
